  • I think that’s a good suggestion.

“What if a pre-op mtf transgender person was in a female change room and cis-females felt unsafe”

Its such a strangely constructed hypothetical fixated on a really bizarre premise.

The conversation quickly devolves into some kind of “id rather encounter a bear while hiking” kind of thing where only women can have a valid opinion.

As a male, in an anonymous medium, I feel comfortable opining that aggravated sexual assault in changerooms isn’t a credible risk, and the incidence of that type of assault is not increased by allowing pre-op mtf transgender people to use the change room.

  • “Insider Trading” is illegal, just never enforced.

IDK whether what Trump is doing meets the definition of “insider” trading because the law is intended to prevent CEO’s and managers trading on the strength of pre-release financial information.

However, like a great many of the behaviors of this administration, no one ever really thought of making it illegal in the past for two reasons. Firstly presidents have always had respect for the office, some less so than others but they were all somehow aware of their duty to fit and proper conduct. Secondly everyone assumed that if a president were to very unashamedly enrich themselves through the office, they would be removed from office.

Narrator: sadly however, the people of America were mistaken

  • It happens more slowly than you might think.

Here in Australia the US has been our major ally since WWII and is generally seen as the enforcer holding off Chinese expansion in our region.

When the tariffs were announced ours were minimal and largely to our benefit anyway.

The general feeling was, the Americans are having a bad day, but we can weather that to maintain our long term relationship.

We have an agreement with the UK and US to build nuclear submarines, which would be helpful in maintaining control in south east Asia. This is a long term strategy with many billions involved, likely to stimulate entire regions in Australia. However, the arrangement is looking very unappealing presently and no one actually believes the US will deliver on their end.

I think the summary is, everyone knows that Trump is not a reliable partner but he will be dead soon, and these relationships run pretty deep.
