I’m getting to the point where I basically predicted it would happen on Saturday too, because Trump has to make every single day all about himself. He just hates that weekend break where people do things like…not think as much about politics and spend time with their loved ones. It’s also why he posted some unhinged amount of posts over the Christmas / New Year’s holidays.
This article, like Schumer’s statement after the attack reads like, “come on man, I’m horny to get bombing in Iran, but you didn’t apply the customary lube first.”
What’s not normal is that this guy doesn’t pretend to care about the people he gets killed. It’s fairly normal otherwise, but there is an aesthetic difference, and since America is full of aesthetes the difference seems very large indeed.
In other words, we’re in the “so rude, no lube” era.
Nowhere is this made more apparent than in Schumer’s statement about the war. He is basically saying “I would’ve gotten on board with bombing Iran, but you have to shmooze me first!”.
Much about his current reign of terror is about him suffering a narcissistic wound by losing (bigly) in 2020.

A leftist news source I read suggested a progressive foreign policy of dismantling overseas military bases instead of just trying to pretend your way back to the Obama era, and that’s probably the best idea I’ve heard of.
Imagine how many fewer war toys would be lying around for Republicans to play with if we started winding down their forward positions overseas.
Yup. I remember George W. Bush saying that he was against “nation building wars” and then he started two of the fucking things, including the longest war in the history of the country.

I hate it, but it’s not a bad way to crowd out the competition over time, Idiocracy style.
I just realized while walking my dog today that a new hard line for me with Democrats is that if you accept corporate / billionaire PAC donations, I’m not donating to your campaign.
I cannot continue to pretend like you will actually give a fuck about my interests when you got into office using mostly money from sources that are actively working against my interests.
I’ll still vote as left as possible in both the primary and the general regardless, but I’m through giving campaign contributions to candidates where my money – and therefore my influence – is a drop in the bucket.
And I will seriously consider voting for just about anyone else left of him in the primary. No offense to him, he seems like a very solid dude, but the time for half-measures, centrists, and people that believe institutions will save us is well beyond over.
The interceptor missiles they use – I forget the name because I don’t have a war boner – are expensive and have limited production capacity versus drones which are low five figures a unit and can be manufactured quickly.
I read some article basically saying wasting all of the missiles leaves a lot of the other places we protect open to attack and that our more serious enemies (China with Taiwan for instance) may be taking notes about how many we’re using.
