Idk, it’s hard to beat Oklahoma when it comes to terrible history. Our state motto is the “Sooner State”. Which is basically celebrating people who cheated in a competition to see who could steal the best land in what was essentially an open air concentration camp for indigenous people.

It always amazes me how streamlined the oil and gas industries are, and just how little of their profit actually benefits the communities they operate in. I feel like with most any other industry that amount of capital in an area would at least vicariously create some form of benefits or taxation for the local economy.

Cushing is a complete shithole relic from the oil boom of the 1920s. Pretty much every building they have on main street was built in the 1920s, and have been mostly vacant since the 30’s. There billions of dollars of oil being stored in the heart of the town while the people of Cushing grow up and die in poverty. Oklahoma is the most tragic state in the union, it’s like if the avarice of America manifested itself into reality as a state.

They also know that the trump administration is more than willing to cut down any government regulation or energy competitors they want. Keeping the public happy domestically and selling exports overseas for significant profits works out fine for them. They know who butters their bread.

Same. There’s one not overtly right winged indoor range near me, but I dislike indoor ranges in general. This one is particularly lax when it comes to gun safety, and you can tell by the plethora of bullet holes in the ceiling and lane dividers. Last time I went I got barrel swept like three times just walking by the store counter.

I was really lucky finding mine, got it from a dude that bought a sealed barrel full of them in the early 90s. It took like a gallon of mineral spirits to clean all the cosmoline off and out of it.

Thousands of moving parts on an air vehicle that doesn’t have any glide capacity, being flown by a pilot that’s significantly younger than the airframe… What could possibly go wrong? I guess at least it’s not an osprey?

Helicopters naturally understand that army personnel belong on the ground, and their natural instinct is to get them there in the fastest possible way.

If I were dumb enough to be a marine or a ranger, I’d definitely be thinking of creative ways to get a medical discharge right about now. Better to be suckling at the teat of the Va and disability than either dying on a beach or die while riding a helicopter crashing into another helicopter.

I guess it can be a bit confusing considering Israel is basically a vassal state of the US, but at times it can be hard to tell who is the tiger and whose is holding it by the tail.

For sure, it’s not like America has a long history of fucking up amphibious landings or helicopter based airborne operations. Grenada had like 1500 dudes armed with sks defending it and they only lost like 10 helicopters. Surely it won’t be worse than that…right?

Yeah, the sad thing is that they only ended up holding less than 20 mostly mid level officers responsible, and they were primarily allowed to retire.

Last I heard the highest person to get in trouble was some rear admiral, and he was actually charged like last year by the feds after the navy let him retire.

So I expect nothing actually changed considering that hundreds of officers were thought to have participated. I can only imagine what kinda shady deals they are doing now that the Fed is run by openly corrupt stooges.
