  • Closing this airspace with absolutely no rationale provided to the public is a pretty huge move. Its adjacent to Fort Bliss, which is a major power projection platform that is always on standby to send out forces of all types for broad geographic use.

It leaves one wondering what might happen in the coming days.

Invasion of Mexico? Seems well positioned for that, but its reach is significantly farther in the hypothetical

Invasion of Cuba? Seems more likely given recent events

Deployment of additional forces to the Middle East for potential conflict with Iran? Could also be possible

Lastly, Bliss is also the location of Camp East Montana, one of DHS/ICE’s concentration camps. Though Im not sure what benefit closing the public airspace would provide to their operations there

Overall, doing this suddenly and without any publicly provided rationale does not portend anything good. Thats for sure

  • Tbf that was people turning in other people they accused of being kulaks, basically anti-communist wealth hoarders, which was very much an actual thing that happened often early in the USSR.

People accused of being kulaks were rarely actually anti communist or hoarding wealth though. It was usually an accusation tossed around specifically with the intent of taking other people out for selfish reasons. Basically like witch hunts in western Europe centuries before that. The kulak was a boogieman accusation that could get anyone taken out by the government

This is different in that its people leveraging someones actual verifiable status as undocumented to fuck them over. Its not a boogieman thing, even if the government portrays undocumented people as some evil boogieman as a justification for the evil shit theyre doing

  • Voters have selected a neoliberal candidate every election for decades. Republicans are even more neoliberal than the mainstream Democratic party is. “Pull yourself up by your bootstraps” is inherently a neoliberal tenet. “Free market” economics is a neoliberal tenet.

Neoliberal doesnt mean “new liberal” as in “new left wing politics”. It is a rehashing of the term liberal as in classical liberalism. Neoliberalism is a spectrum of political approaches that spans everything from virtually-no-government libertarianism all the way to ineffectual big government (IE mainstream leftwing politics). Its all various approaches to the question “how small can government be while still maintaining the status quo of the social contract, the market, and extractive economic policy?”.

Progressive politics, of most all forms, are closer to classical liberalism because classical liberalism also spawned socialism eventually, just as it spawned neoliberalism. It goes back to the idea that government should actually be something for people, not the bare minimum of whatever placates people while still being able to bleed them dry.

Quite honestly, given the American penchant for electing neoliberals, and the rich man’s affinity for funding them, a neoliberal woman is far more likely to get elected than a woman who isnt. Hence Kamala and Hillary both being nearly elected. The only reason they lost is because they were running against an even more neoliberal candidate whos party has the EC locked up. America elected its first black president because he was a neoliberal. If Obama had been a Mamdani style progressive candidate he would have gotten smacked down by John McCain. He probably wouldnt have gotten anywhere near the nomination

  • Clinton stood no chance against Trump because of the large number of women voters that were never going to vote for her; not because of who she was in 2015 but because of her staying with Bill after he cheated on her.

Even the same ardent feminists that you would assume want to see a woman president more than anything still had little interest in her, in particular, being the first woman president. Too many women see her as a woman that stayed married to jackass just because of what it afforded her politically, financially, ect. Plus, they especially did not like the expectation placed on them to vote for her solely based on gender considering they viewed her as a traitor to women more broadly.

It says a lot about how hated she is by other women that a huge contingent of them voted for a serial sexual assailant rather than her
