I was talking to my “I don’t really care about other countries that much, but both parties will send you to die for nothing and only care about rich people” gen x coworker yesterday (who I have gotten increasingly pro-China over recent years just on the basis that they actually take care of their people and respond to what their public wants) and he is very concerned because in his words “Iran is a real country with a real army” aka US troops aren’t used to fighting military peers. He’s not exactly a bog standard lib or chud but he’s also definitely not a communist or Arab nationalist or anything and he’s worried we’re gonna get stomped.
