Juries really aren’t there to decide whether or not it was appropriate to do a crime. They’re there to decide if a crime happened or not.

I don’t know that it’s a good thing, but it would make it hard to to get convictions for people that are likeable or who have good excuses, or are some sort of “pillar of the community” type. A judge would probably tell you that those things are meant for sentencing.

technically defense attorneys aren’t even allowed to tell people about jury nullification and if you mention it during jury selection, as a potential juror the prosecutor is going to yeet you so fast. the judge might, even, too.

I dunno.

None of that is a reason to believe she’s not an undocumented immigrant. And being brown, curly-haired, not-a-medical-worker is not any reason to believe they’re an undocumented immigrant.

Is this objectionable behavior by ICE? absolutely. But not because of who the victim is. but because there IS a victim. everyone in this country is protected by the constitution, and afforded the rights of due process- which ICE is flagrantly violating the shit out of.

Even if you say psychology is a wishy-washy science, it’s still science. The teacher failed her for not providing empirical evidence based on proper studies. The student is going to have a hard time of it, if her only response is to scream persecution. (And yes, that’s exactly what’s going on here.)

It’s psychology, not religious studies. She got a failing grade because she said thing and used a shitty source to back it up. Psychology is not religious studies.
