  • Iceland, Netherlands join South Africa’s ICJ case against Israeli genocide in Gaza

Iceland and the Netherlands have filed declarations to intervene in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the United Nations’ highest court.

The move by the two European countries took place on Thursday, bringing to 18 the number of countries seeking to participate in the proceedings.

Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Palestine, Spain, Turkey, Chile, the Maldives, Bolivia, Ireland, Cuba, Belize, Brazil, the Comoros, Belgium and Paraguay have already joined the case.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance group welcomed the move by the two European countries, describing it as an important step towards strengthening the principle of international justice.

In January 2024, the court ordered the occupying regime to take all necessary measures to stop any genocide against Palestinians and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, but Israel has kept ignoring the ruling.

In its declaration, Iceland said the ICJ should consider whether actions such as deprivation of food, shelter or medical care could constitute conditions of life intended to destroy a protected group.

It also emphasized the particular vulnerability of children in assessing serious bodily or mental harm.

Professor William Schabas, a preeminent authority on genocide and international criminal law, has said that the ongoing genocidal war in Gaza could lead to significant legal repercussions for Israel and its allies.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands said in its filing that forced displacement and the withholding of humanitarian aid could, depending on the circumstances, contribute to acts prohibited under the Genocide Convention.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance group welcomed the move by the two European countries, describing it as an important step towards strengthening the principle of international justice.

It further called on all countries to support the lawsuits brought against Israel and its officials in international tribunals.

Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, but it agreed to a ceasefire two years later after failing to achieve its objectives.

Since then, however, Israel has been violating the truce, killing more than 72,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, during the war and after it.

Better late than never I suppose?

  • That’s one of the beauties of dry bulk foods and canned foods, you can pretty much keep them anywhere. Oliveoil already gave specific examples and they’re good, I have a bunch of flats of canned goods in the same closet as my clothes. It can be a bit of a challenge if your living space doesn’t actually have much, you know, space, but if you don’t mind a bit of an eye sore, you can even just stack some up in a corner. I keep a 20kg sack of quinoa in a corner under my table.

Speaking of which, it may be more expensive than rice, but quinoa is really great, and I would highly recommend it as a food to stock up on in bulk alongside your rice, lentils, and beans if you can. It has higher protein per volume than rice and is a complete protein unlike rice. It has more fiber which helps with satiety aka feeling full (very important when you can’t afford or don’t have access to food), and tends to have more nutrients like vitamins (E, B’s), phosphorus, iron, magnesium, potassium, etc. It’s lower on the glycemic index, at least compared to white rice, so better if you have any issues with your blood sugar levels. And it’s just super tasty with that nuttiness, it really helps break up the monotony if you’ve been eating a lot of rice for a while.

Maybe one thing to keep in mind whether you have (or could get) any pest species that could potentially get into bags or sacks of your dried bulk foods (your quinoa, rice, beans, lentils). If there’s a possibility of that, you can put it in plastic totes or similar. But flats of canned food can pretty much go anywhere, as is.

  • Iran announces new retaliatory strike as 9 million settlers advised to take shelter

Iran’s Army has announced a new round of retaliatory strikes against targets in the Israeli-occupied territories as Israeli media report the blaring of sirens in the city of Tel Aviv and its surroundings.

The Islamic Republic’s Army issued a statement on Tuesday, announcing targeting of oil and gas refineries as well as fuel storage tanks in the occupied port of Haifa.

The situation has prompted more than nine million illegal settlers to seek shelter, they added.

The reprisal, the statement noted, took place using attack drones deployed by the country’s Air Force.

The retaliation came in response to “the attack on Iran’s oil depots,” it read.

“The battle against the criminal United States and the child-killing Zionist regime will continue until the final victory of the front of truth over falsehood.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli regime’s “home front” provided the information on Tuesday, saying the latest reprisal has also featured missile launches.

It also reported that sirens had also gone off throughout illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank after “spotting” of incoming Iranian missiles.

The forces said the regime’s missile systems were trying to intercept the projectiles.

Reports also pointed to going off of sirens elsewhere in the occupied territories, including the holy occupied city of al-Quds and as many as “263 other spots.”

The situation has prompted more than nine million illegal settlers to seek shelter, they added.

Since late last month, the Israeli regime and the United States have begun a new bout of unprovoked aggression towards the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s Armed Forces began dozens of rounds of reprisal momentarily afterwards, targeting sensitive and strategic American and Israeli targets throughout the region.

Among others, prominent targets have featured hostile objects in the city of Tel Aviv, the holy occupied city of al-Quds, and the occupied city of Be’er Sheva, which serves as the Israeli regime’s technology hub, as well as the US’s Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and an American destroyer in the Indian Ocean.

  • Iran views any US ground, air assault as opportunity to ‘kill or capture’ forces: Source

    https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2026/03/10/765199/iran-views-us-ground-air-assault-opportunity-kill-capture-forces-sources

Iranian security forces are fully ready to confront any potential American sabotage operations, a highly placed security source told Press TV on Tuesday.

Reacting to the claims made by some American and Israeli sources about an air assault and ground incursion into certain sensitive areas and Iran’s nuclear capabilities, the source said the Iranian security forces are ready for any eventuality.

The source asserted that this “window of opportunity” will be very suitable for the Iranian forces to “either kill a number of them or take them prisoners.”

“We have been preparing ourselves for such a day for 20 years. Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and some other places have been good exercises on the ground for facing such an enemy,” he said in a conversation with Press TV.

The source further stated that the Americans would do better to pay more attention to the bitter experiences of the past and the deadly dangers that await them.

Trump administration officials have been toying with the idea of sending ground troops into Iran as the Israeli-American war against the country intensifies.

    More

“[It would] have to be [for] a very good reason. And I would say if we ever did that, they would be so decimated that they wouldn’t be able to fight at the ground level,” US President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday.

In a report on Sunday, Bloomberg said US President Donald Trump is considering the deployment of special forces to seize Iran’s near-bomb-grade uranium stockpile.

CNN reported that such an escalation would place a significant number of troops in harm’s way as part of a complex mission to secure or render safe tons of highly radioactive material.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in remarks on Sunday, warned that Tehran is fully capable of defending itself against a potential US ground incursion.

“For the time being, we are capable enough. We have very brave soldiers, who are waiting for any enemy who enters our soil to fight with them, and to kill them and destroy them,” Araghchi told NBC in an interview.

The Israeli-American war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran entered its 11th day on Tuesday, amid indications that Washington and Tel Aviv are seeking an exit strategy.

Iranian armed forces have conducted 34 waves of retaliatory strikes against targets in the occupied territories and US military installations across the region, deploying advanced missiles and drones that have inflicted high costs on the enemy.

Iranian officials have vowed to continue operations until the aggressor is punished.

  • I’m an atheist too but have no problem believing that those responsible for these actions are demons, or at least non-supernatural analogs of demons. That they have their origins in a material world of ultra-privilige (within a system that rewards cruelty and encourages greed and fosters supremacism of the depraved) rather than having origins in a mythological netherworld seems irrelevant to me. They still epitomize cruelty, greed, sadism, satisfaction from the despair of the innocent, “blasphemy” against life and human thriving and joy. They are demons or ‘close enough as makes no difference.’

The part that I have come to struggle with as an atheist is that I desperately yearn for some kind of cosmic justice. I wish there was a hell for these demons to burn in for their crimes against humanity and life and the literal earth. Perhaps not for eternity but I want them to burn long enough that the suffering they have to endure is somewhat commensurate with the suffering they have caused, a bit longer still for the suffering that they delighted in causing.

But instead, most of them will live statistically long lives of oppulance, where all their needs and nearly all their wants are met, their demonic work praised by the other demons that surround them, smug and self satisfied only to eventually die while being coddled and cared for, ultimately facing the same neutral oblivion we all face.

It enrages me in a way I can’t ever find a release for. It eats at me. I know I “shouldn’t let it,” but that’s easy to say. I also know rationally that such an intense desire for revenge (or retributive justice) isn’t really conducive to the kind of future that communists want to build via socialism, and it isn’t conducive for my personal well-being. But I’d be lying if I said I don’t yearn to see these fucking demons suffer for what they’ve done, for what they are doing. But most of them proba ly won’t and I have to learn to accept that and focus on the small things that can be done now to help build a future where demons are never even allowed the opportunity to fulfill any of their evil fucking deeds let alone rule much of the earth through large scale terrorism like they do now.
