President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday to rebrand the Pentagon as the “Department of War,” telling reporters in the Oval Office it was a more “appropriate” name given the state of the world.
It’s more honest, and a retvrn to its original name. Time to drop the pretense.
Is it just me or is news getting written more poorly on a wording level all the time?
Trump to sign executive order renaming Pentagon the Department of War
It’s usually fine to call the DoD “the Pentagon” after its building, but he’s not renaming the building so you have to be more specific in this case.
He reversed a Biden-era decision that had removed Confederate-era names of bases like Fort Bragg and Fort Hood,
Fort Bragg and Fort Hood are not “Confederate-era” names, neither one of these places existed until the 20th century. They have names in honor of the CSA.
Most journalists these days are something between a stenographer and a professional twitter poster, especially when it comes to politics. No wonder they’re borderline illiterate.
