They do this on every post in that community, even if the question was answered correctly by someone else. And it prevents any further discussion.

YDI. I guess they are simply frustrated at having to answer the same question over and over when:

This is clearly explained in the GenP Guides under the section titled “GenP Distribution Formats Explained”. And it’s also noted on the download tabs of the official GenP website.

They deserve having their comment removed…For saying what amounts to what the moderator said, but more concisely?

If the moderator is frustrated by having to answer the same questions over and over, why not let the community take that responsibility over?

To be honest I hadn’t read the removed comments, but I have now. I agree @frongt@lemmy.zip’s comment is indeed basically a more concise version of the mod’s. But when looking at the comments as a whole, I can see how they could just confuse the OP more. And it’s just a removed comment, no big deal imo.

The genp mods have a lot of experience with their own software and are obviously the most authoritative source for support. I do agree their tone was a bit problematic, because there’s simply no need to berate folks for making a mistake. But on the other hand, they are doing this for free, so its not like anyone is entitled to demand good customer service either. And they spent a lot of time writing clear instructions that many people (clearly) totally ignore, so that’s gotta be super frustrating.

If the moderator is frustrated by having to answer the same questions over and over, why not let the community take that responsibility over?

How would OP know for sure they were getting the correct advice? I mean, its an option for sure, but I guess it’s up to GenP how they want to support their users.

I don’t see any indication that the mod is actually affiliated with the project. They’re not listed in the nfo.

So the mod copies in one answer and cleans out the thread?

Look; I’d do the same for a repeat question. The question is answered, and the thread is clean and ready for archive.
