Not that it matters because they’d probably just make up some new rule, but IIRC the case you’re referring to is the one that renders presidents unprosecutable for official acts carried out as president. The Epstein stuff was all before he was president, so in theory they could lock him up for it.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but I never, ever expected Trump to be charged in relation to Epstein, but I still think the damage it does to his image is a perfectly worthwhile thing, especially since the Dems are almost as implicated (I say almost because Don’s letters are really fucking explicit).
I think it’s that he’s willing to do just about anything right now to divert attention from the Epstein stuff, but hey, a win’s a win.
