lol i got 4 reports on your post before (just resolved them all) I’m guessing the mod saw all of those and mindlessly banned you, since it was far from spam or anything; literally just a single (valid) post.

Thanks for making this follow up post. It took me a few days, but I finally read it. Interesting that they put children’s software with porn, however terrible the porn actually is.

I reported that post because the thumbnail was NSFW and the post was not marked as such.

PTB I guess, the nottheonion mods seem to be terrible. In fairness though, I saw the headline and also assumed it was porn spam.

I think this is more on Vice than on you, the article was fine, but they can’t give titles like that if the thing is ever going to be posted anywhere other than on Vice’s site in among with a bunch of other articles to give it social proof. It’s like anti-clickbait.

tbf, I doomscroll mastodon ‘federated’ and lemmy ‘all’ 24/7, and my mindbot skips or blocks the word, so automation and lack of ‘due process’ explain the ban.
Should be overturned, but shudda never happened. pita.

Rumor from the mods is that behavior is pretty recognizable. You have to be sort of identifiable in some way or other to attract mod attention, so in most cases it’s pretty obvious when one account is doing one type of behavior, gets banned for it, and then a new account emerges that’s doing the exact same behavior.

Situations are different of course, but I think especially for the more justified bans it’s not as hard as it would seem like (even when IP address matching is not involved.)

I image that behaviour is recognisable because it’s really obnoxious. Like tankies trying to convert you to their faith or straight up spamming.

It’s pretty much impossible to tell if a person is legit or an account with a motive.

There’s no invasive fingerprinting that’s done. If you remake an account with a new email and IP then you’re completely unknown.

Obviously, if you’re doing the same gimmick it would be easy to pick you out, but if you legit wanted to make a new account to clear a ban there are not any moderation tools that will detect that.

I think this is the issue. Lemmy isn’t Reddit yet (although, give it time.) Most people who are copping bans at this stage are either (a) being insufferable in some fashion or other and refusing to stop (b) running afoul of lemmy.ml. I think in almost all cases of (a), what they are doing is returning exactly to form with the new account and then being all surprised that no one’s throwing roses and cheering them on this time around.

Man, I could not imagine it was this bad, this games. But thank you for posting this. Knowing that the porn games are mixed with children games is worrying. I need to see what kind of sites my daughter uses to play games. I have a bunch of safeguards at home, but if the site mixes stuff, I need to check.

It’s most likely because the porn game website is just aggregate stealing games from other sites and throwing anything they can get on there.

It never hurts to keep an eye on what your kids are looking at and make sure the guardrails are still on, but remember the author had to go through a lot of hoops to get there. There’s nothing here to suggest there are porn games secretly hiding among reputable sites for kid friendly games, just that these sites hosting porn games are shamelessly stealing games from other sites.

I understood that he was sent to mygamevault (something that doesn’t scream porn to me) or something like that and when he sorted by most played/ranked, he saw normal/kid games. I understood the site contains all kind of games and, if it doesn’t filter by free/subscription, you can find porn games mixed with kid games. Am I missing something?
