Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of Brazil’s imprisoned former president, is presenting a strong challenge to Lula, 80, who is seeking a fourth term in office.

I’m not Brazilian but, I’ve been following the electoral politics of Brazil loosely for a while.

How can Brazil go left of Lula?

Here in the states we had Biden. My question before he left office was the same. We went right wing again. Now people who share my ideology are making a push to primary incumbents within the center right party (Democrat).

Would something like this happen in Brazil if Lula wins?

It is very difficult for any foreign country outside of the USA to move left with all the US meddling going on in Latin America

I 100% acknowledge US meddling is an issue. I’m gesturing at Milie in Argentina, Bukele in El Salvador and most recently De Le Espriella in Colombia.

That aside I still feel as though people can still organize against the “hegomonic forces of amerikkka”.
