Blimps and Zeplins were heavily limited by the tech of their time materials were heavy and hard to use for example I know damned well the blimps built here in SoCal used leather gaskets. It’s possible to compensate for some of the instability with more modern props and battery tech.
Also if shit keeps going how it is we may need a couple modernized designs due to resource shortages, hydrogen can be sourced locally jet fuel not so much.
I couldn’t care less, as long as they don’t use hydrogen but helium when they fly over my house.
But from what I’ve heard from avionic engineers and specialists it’s just stupid. But tell that to startups who got a motherload of money from the government consisting of idiots who pull the government’s wallet after seeing a 10min presentation which is basically a poorly produced animation video.
Y’know I fucking hate startups simply because they seem to just exist to waste time and money. Doing some fucky R&D for old tech is fine and can be interesting since sometimes someone finds something new to correct old issues, but as soon as a startup gets involved it basically instantly turns into a boondoggle. This is the type of shit that should be left to the Skunkworks and borderline redneck R&D labs in towns you’ve never heard of not some dipshit who thinks innovation means slapping LEDs on everything.

You must also watch Adam something. But yeah startups are pretty shit on a baseline, at least when they describe themselves as a startup since if I’m being honest a company just calling themselves new is less of a red flag word.
Also I dit research work for a billionaire for a while, who wants to invest in green startups (hoping one will be a success and provide a profit over all the investments he made) and there are soooooo many startups doing copy-paste what another one does, but with a different look, while all they are selling a consent they thought of without doing actual research whether it is something that solves a problem, actually could work or is needed. They just invest their savings in a nice presentation and keep the motto “fake it till you make it”. I mean, Elon Musk gets away with it all the time, why wouldn’t they. And many investors are easily tricked with fancy sycophant presentations.
Which is very annoying since I alone have dozens of better ideas, problem is they’re all mundane and have absolutely no flash outside of theoretical branding. The first one is boring as fuck and would just exist to undermine the Tesla charging network, basically in conjunction with electrician unions and guilds manufacture what amounts to generic charging stations to sell to governmental and third party entities. The other is basically to import Japanese vending machines to stick at said charging stations with the end goal of eventually getting hot food ones for the more productive ones.
Problem is they aren’t fancy and frankly speaking even if I could get the cash theres a near garuntee that Musk, one of his fanboys, or a Tesla investor would burn down the manufacturing facility before anything ships.

Even modern day designs have one major flaw: they can’t operate in wind. But rest assured, next to that major flaw there are many other flaw as well.
