    Presumably it would need to be implemented as a float, in which case you’d think a stopgap would be to make the rate 0.01% instead of 0%.

    Absolutely wild if it’s hard-coded. A lot of Japanese electronics are domestically sourced, so it could make sense given they’d be designed exclusively for Japan. Still seems unlikely.

    As the article mentions, it might just all be smoke and mirrors, as a tactic to delay the tax holiday.
