PSA: if you’re overwhelmed by your kid, this is common BTW, you can make sure they are in a safe place(crib, floor, whatever) and walk away and take a breather.

You can also do this with older kids. I told my kids im having a poo and just stay in the bathroom for 10 minutes. You cant take care of of things if you dont take care of yourself.

I’ve heard first hand from parents that they saw news articles like this and always thought how could a parent ever do that to their kid? Then they had a kid and realized it very easily could be them… Sleep deprivation is a torture tactic and kids are supposed to be raised by a large family group of grandparents, uncles, aunts, brothers and sisters, cousins and so on that live nearby and can help iut. It’s really just recently that we have super isolated parents like this, where it’s literally the birth parents (or worse, just the mom!) taking care of an infant. It’s literally inhumane…

I was thinking this exactly. I can relate to the feeling of being so overwhelmed and sleep deprived that the most stupid thoughts suddenly stop looking so stupid.

I heard from a mother that picked up her baby, strapped her safely in her transport chair, and put her in the wardrobe so she could sleep for a couple of hours, and I can’t judge her for it…
