[May 14, 2026 [good article that outlines various (dishonest) approaches by centrist Democratic politicians to Democratic voters’ antipathy to Israel.]

Wendy Sherman, who served as deputy secretary of State under the Biden administration, made headlines in late April when she told Bloomberg that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had “led” the United States down the road to “genocide” in Gaza.

In the next sentence, however, Sherman said that she remained a “strong supporter” of Israel. It marked one of the most blatant examples of a rhetorical strategy widely emerging among Democratic politicians since October 7: using language that validates progressive criticism of Israel — including, now, the word “genocide” — while simultaneously insulating themselves from the charge that they have abandoned Israel.

So she is not playing catch up with voters after all. Peoole do not want to hear about strong support for Israel. They want to hear strong support for Palestinian liberation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had “led” the United States down the road to “genocide” in Gaza.

Poor american empire, it was forced to support a genocide \s

The American empire is the real victim here. We were bamboozled. We thought we could trust the word of our wonderful ally, Israel, and it’s sickening that our trust could be broken so flippantly. But you don’t actually believe that we should hold Israel accountable for coercing us into doing a genocide for them, do you? I mean “victim” is a strong word, and I don’t know that it’s appropriate to say that Israel “victimized” us. It’s antisemitic to even suggest such a thing. What sort of person would even do that? Some kind of Nazi? Are you some kind of Nazi? Shame on you! Just for that, I’m gonna continue supporting Israel and their genocide of Palestine, because that is the not Nazi thing to do! Oh, we just got bamboozled into attacking Iran for them? Look, this isn’t even about Israel. There’s gonna be a ballroom! And an arch! So much winning! /s

Why are these dipshits still under the impression that we want them to support Israel? It couldn’t be more clear that I’d rather my tax dollars go almost anywhere else. Help people in the US, restart USAID, fund science, hell even set it on fire. Funding Israel is funding terrorism. If they were just defending themselves, that’d be one thing, but they’re constantly the aggressors in every conflict they’re involved in. The one time that they weren’t, they responded with all out genocide.
