A British man has walked away from the wreckage of the Air India crash that killed at least 200 people in an extraordinary tale of survival.
Vishwashkumar Ramesh was in seat 11A on the London-bound Boeing 787-8 flight when it crashed shortly after take off in Ahmedabad, western India.
Mr Ramesh’s brother, Nayan Kumar Ramesh, told BBC News Vishwashkumar “has no idea how he survived” and escaped the plane as the only survivor.
There were 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian on the Gatwick Airport-bound flight, Air India said.
Taking an international flight tomorrow, Friday 13th. My wife is in 11A. Not sure how to feel about this.
Ask to switch seats
At this point I’d be only booking non-Boeing flights.
I believe this is the first fatal incident with the 787 and the first hull loss. It has a remarkable safety record over nearly 14 years.
I doubt this crash is Boeing’s fault. The airframe in this crash was considered very safe.
The more probable cause is Air India being lax in safety.
Yeah idk the cause, but the chance of being in a crash yourself is still miniscule, but still a bit scary i guess, even if it’s safer than driving.
Ask her to buy a lottery ticket? Just to be sure?
(Yes, I know, I’m kidding)
