I don’t know dude, I support your ability to not employ magats and I’d hope to do the same, maybe just less overtly. I feel like I can typically tell the type within seconds. In any case I don’t think we disagree on anything here but the prescriptivist aspect. I get what bill nye is doing and I don’t disapprove. And same with you and your business. Trumpism is a deep cultural problem and I’m not sure there really is a solution, personally. It’s the result of unregulated capitalism. People worship that shit even though it hurts them personally. I’m not sure shaming them could ever reverse those who are so brainwashed.
I don’t believe that it will shame them so much as make them fully aware of how socially unacceptable those beliefs are. They are hypocrites, they’ll just hide their MAGA beliefs, and that’s about the best we can hope for. At least they aren’t able to influence society to any great degree.
It would be comparable to the KKK. They might meet in full dress in Gene’s basement (on accounta he’s got a high ceiling for a basement, and the hats fit, and everybody knows wearing the hat is the fun part), but they aren’t getting elected to the school board and demanding that kids read the Bible in school.
Making them crawl back under their slimy rock is good enough for now, as long as we stay vigilant, and taze them whenever they try to slither back out.
Oh, and BTW, I won’t work with a MAGA, but I’ll accept work from MAGAs all day long, and they will get my very best work, I promise that. I will accept money from anyone, without question, but I won’t give money to just anyone.
