When passing any United States border, turn off your phone. Put it away. An agent can grab an unlocked phone in your hand. Cellebrite can crack most iPhones and Android devices, but the encryption from the off state is much harder to crack.
Pro-tip - Border patrol has authority within 100 miles of the border.
They also consider “the coastline” to be the border.

It also includes 100 miles of international airports I believe.
I wouldn’t be so sure of that, I’ve heard it said the do and they don’t but I don’t think I’ve ever seen concrete proof it does.
