Oh yeah I remember that! I remember one of my neighbors pointing up at a light in the evening and yelling about drones. I had to tell her not to worry because it was, literally, just Venus.
She also seemed mad at me for ruining the fun though
No joke. I think many Americans looked up at the sky for the first time in 20 years and just freaked out about any “light” they saw.
Also, half-seriously half-joking, I think most were looking for an excuse to be mad or freak out. That’s a common thing in the American psyche. Everyone seems so bored, or tense and close to exploding or some just want any reason to be pissy. It’s gotten to the point that our celestial neighbor in the sky can cause mass delusion events.
