Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), a member of the Armed Services Committee, said Sunday that the body will put military officials “under oath” regarding reported follow-up strikes on an alleged drug boat in the Caribbean.

“We’re going to have an investigation,” Kelly told host Kristen Welker on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “We’re going to have a public hearing. We’re going to put these folks under oath. And we’re going to find out what happened. And then, there needs to be accountability.”

CNN and The Washington Post reported Friday that the U.S. carried out a second strike on an accused drug-smuggling boat off the coast of Venezuela on Sept. 2, killing the remaining survivors of its initial attack.

Just like the no kings protests and the people standing up to ICE raids, it’s about using the power you have to say no. He’s a senator and he has the power to waste their time and make them sit in a place they don’t want to be. It’s not much, it’s probably not enough, but not doing anything is worse.
