Another good reason to boycott Western mass media…
Snip:
A media-analysis report released on 20 November titled ‘Framing Gaza’ presents data showing that major western outlets mention “Israel” far more often than “Palestine” in both headlines and article bodies.
The outlets in question mention big names, including the New York Times (NYT), BBC, Le Monde, the Globe and Mail, The Guardian, Reuters, AP, and AFP.
According to the dataset, NYT uses “Israel” in headlines 1,868 times and “Palestine” only 10 times, a ratio of 187 to 1.
The disproportionate pattern appears across the other outlets, with BBC showing 1,100 uses of “Israel” in headlines and 91 uses of “Palestine,” Le Monde showing 1,087 versus 65, and De Telegraaf showing 952 versus 65.

I don’t doubt the general premise because the American media apparatus is nothing if not unified in manufacturing consent, but using instances of words and comparing those words to each other always seemed like a way of measuring with a lot of other factors that need to be taken into account that could skew the meaning of the discrepancy. I don’t know shit about statistics though, so maybe there’s some obvious reason why functionally-similar terms can be measured against each other, so if so, I’d like to know about it.
It probably works here because crypto-zionist media outlets pretending to be neutral (as well as overtly zionist outlets) tend to avoid using “Palestine” whenever they can.
Now let’s do similar studies to show the same behaviour when talking about Russia, Iran or Venezuela!
