Dozens of Israel Police officers raided a wedding hall in the Bedouin town of Laqiya in southern Israel on Friday night – throwing stun grenades at guests, including children, and firing sponge-tipped bullets.

Police said the raid was launched on suspicion that weapons were being stored at the venue and claimed that officers came under gunfire and stone-throwing, though no such incidents appear in footage released by the police. Police have not reported finding any weapons at the wedding hall.

The groom’s uncle said no one threw stones or attacked the police, and no shots were fired. According to him, once police ordered the guests to leave, no one resisted.
