391·20 days agoI respectfully disagree.
The only chance for a ‘just’ and lasting peace in Ukraine and Europe is a a complete defeat of Putin’s Russia. Everything else doesn’t end the war but will extend it.
Russia must leave the whole of Ukraine.

Mr. Burgess also criticizes China for IP theft and political meddling

1·2 months agoThe 972mag may fill an important gap in its country, they are critical of Israel and its allies with factual reporting, but they are by no means unbiased. I feel as many (all?) left-wing media outlet they don’t research independently but rather seek information that support their narratives, which includes that some topics are never touched at all. This is their bias. It is a selective approach what to report on, whom to criticize, and whom not. It’s not independent media.

World News@lemmy.world•Global Funds Exit China Real Estate Amid Steep Losses and Distressed Sales As Oversupply Expected to Take Years to Be AbsorbedEnglish
1·2 months agoNah, this is not about the multinational investors but foremost about ordinary people’s money.
And the next bubble is loading already. Chinese households are returning to equities due to a lack of attractive alternatives, with the CSI 300 Index surging more than 25% since its April lows (and surging ~50% since the start of the year). There are large investors, of course, but the data -household deposits are down, stock market indices are up, to name examples- shows that small investors are a central part of this bull rally, with hundred of billions of dollars have been flooding the equity markets within short period of time now.

35·2 months agoare you aware of falun gong and what they stand for or do you blindly believe what confirms your bias?
Where do you have your information from? How do you know that Falun Gong is “CIA backed” and what they stand for?
You make empty accusations and empty statements backed by nothing, while ignoring the sources cited in the linked report (and in this thread as well).

World News@lemmy.world•China is using America’s own trade weapons to beat itEnglish
35·2 months agoWell, in other news we read that Chinese state oil majors have suspended purchases of seaborne Russian oil after the United States imposed sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, Moscow’s two biggest oil companies.
Unfortunately, the Economist lost a lot of its quality and research strength in the last two decades or so which is why I stopped reading almost entirely. What is interesting, though, is that tankies slam the Economist frequently as a some sort of Western propaganda media, but have apparently no problem with it if at least the headline aligns with their desired narratives. The hypocrisy is almost hilarious :-)

World News@lemmy.world•Canada in ‘strategic partnership’ with China, minister says - National | Globalnews.caEnglish
61·2 months agoYeah, if the multi-polarity comes true, there will likely be several blocks (the EU, Mercosur, others) that will cooperate closely, while trusted partnerships will remain only among trusted countries (such as among democratic countries worldwide). Within these partnerships there could be free trade, between them, however, we’ll likely see some sort of tit-for-tat economy - do trade where it fits and where it has no impact on our core interests regarding economy and security.
Canada’s “strategic partnership” with China will be one of these tit-for-tat partnerships, but the country’s future lies in collaborations with the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and other democracies.
