I wonder if other countries have (or will have) their one genre of trashy books like in the USA where some outdated piece of military equipment magically gets transported to a future, technologically advanced, battlefield and saves the day?
I know I shouldn’t be surprised by this… but I am.
ultra-orthodox are something like 15% of israelis/20% of jewish israelis,
imagine you’re an average, genocidal israeli that does two years of military service bulldozing palestinian houses while hoping not to eat an al ghoul round. during your military term, you’re watching the israeli economy crumble and meanwhile you see a bunch of even more genocidal haredi israelis not only getting a pass for military duties but also getting a free ride to study the torah instead of getting real jobs. they’re a bunch of fascist welfare leeches.
That makes sense for people outside of the military or at a military desk job, sending people to the front lines who don’t want to be there seems more of a liability (unless its just going to be a whole companies of the ultra-orthodox being driven into Hamas ambushes by the non-ultra-orthodox.)
Just a buncha peeps in the streets calling each other “donkey” in Hebrew and Arabic. Nothing wrong with that.
Are there… like… millions of ultra orthodox folks? 'Cause if there ain’t, all you’re doing is poisoning the units that are going to be saddled with people who absolutely don’t want to be there and have already fought against the conscription publicly.

Fetterman either was a closet chud or the stroke he had while… running for office or after he was already in office (can’t remember which)… legitimately rewired his personality to be very chuddy.

awww… I was hoping it was going to be another “bee” related casualty.
Iran is basically saying, “You want our oil, you will have to openly say you don’t support the USA.” Which means the USA will look at any ship that isn’t intercepted by Iran as “possibly having worked some deal with the Iranians”.
Which puts the USA in a pickle: “Be happy that ships are able to transit the Straight of Hormuz and look the other way.” or “Start interdicting the ships because they must be working with the Iranians.”
Either way, politically and militarily, it puts the USA in a weaker position.
