Forests play a crucial role in providing precipitation to agricultural areas, importantly supporting crop production and global trade activities. A recent study published in Nature Water emphasizes that to manage global food risks, it is essential to conserve forests located upwind of agricultural regions.
Plants release water when they’re alive through transpiration. Large concentrations of plants, like forests, release so much collectively that it allows the formation of clouds which then can get blown somewhere else before raining.
This study unsurprisingly found basically every country relies on clouds made from forests outside the country for crops–i’m guessing the exceptions are isolated island nations
And capitalists keep destroying our forests… Especially mining companies.
